Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she received the Emmy Award. Her other credits include her roles in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of a United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised with her four brothers and sisters. In her early years she longed to be a court reporter. But after she graduated from high school, and moving to New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. As a teenager the first time she appeared as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Delaney, a young actress in the 80s, has been featured in numerous TV shows and in dramas. The professional life she has had is much more lucrative than her personal life. There were two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005 she lost the custody of her sole son.
